iJava is a newly-developed online interactive textboo
	 for introductory Java instruction. The text is unique in i
	s hands-on style: users type code directly at the book, and
	receive instant correctness feedback. Because of its hands-
	n, interactive engagement style, the text has dramatically 
	educed failure rates in introductory classes at UMass-Amher
	t. An iJava-based class is suitable for the AP exam in comp
	ter science (level A).
