SUMMARY:BATEC Summer Institute 2014: Computational Thinking via SBL
DTSTAMP:20140714T105815
DESCRIPTION:This professional development opportunity designed for educator
s of grades 8-12 pairs the power of computational thinking with the pedagog
ical methodology of scenario-based learning. Developed through an NSF CPATH
grant (CCF0939089)\, participants will learn to teach scenarios that requi
re students to solve problems in which they are given incomplete details\,
requiring them to ask targeted questions and analyze alternatives in order
to formulate a solution. Educators will leave the workshop with developed s
cenarios ready to implement within their classroom.
\n
\nLearning Outcomes

 \n
\n● Better understanding of computational thinking and its relevance a
 cross disciplines
\n● Scenario development through the use of a flexible\
 , customizable template
\n
\nParticipants should currently teach grades 8-1
