Description

ArcGIS Online – Presented By: Rich Schultz

ArcGIS Online® (AGOL) is a collaborative, cloud-based platform that lets users create, share, and access maps, applications (e.g., apps), and spatial data, including basemaps published by Esri. Through the use of AGOL, one can manage, create, store, and access hosted web services and because it is part of one system, ArcGIS Desktop®, Esri’s licensed GIS software, can be extended through its usage. AGOL can be accessed via web browsers on desktop computers, laptops, and mobile devices as well as directly through the ArcGIS Desktop® capabilities. Additionally, by joining an organization one can share maps and apps with others and even create individual groups to host spatial materials. This interactive workshop for beginners introduces AGOL to those new to spatial software and offers an opportunity to experiment with it in order to become familiar with the software. The workshop is introductory in nature and a laptop is required for attendees. Topics covered in this workshop include:

  • An introduction to AGOL
  • Searching layers
  • Adding data
  • Finding distances
  • Creating maps
  • Querying data
  • Saving and sharing maps and apps
