NAB 2022 UAVCinematography Flight Hands-on workshop

Las Vegas Convention Center3150 Paradise RdLas VegasNV89109

Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS or Drones) are a staple in the toolkit of any videographer, and with good reason; they are used not only to create beautiful video from new (and previously unachievable angles), but to collect data that can be used for other production content. Cost effective, reduced risk, and often able to access in places that are generally inaccessible, this is not surprising that video professionals are rapidly adding sUAS to their production kit.

This field trip is designed for those either evaluating sUAS or who have recently acquired an sUAS for production use. Attendees will be able to fly with top instructors who are there not just to share best practices; they’re also prepared to address any questions or concerns ranging from standard practices, maintenance, or regulatory changes. This is a hands-on training course.

The Power to Change the World

There are 103 Historically Black College and Universities (HBCUs) in the United Stated. HBCU’s have existed for for over 200 years and deliver over 27% of the STEM graduates while educating only 10% of the African Americans in higher education in the US. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage the expertise, innovation, entrepreneurialism and manpower/woman power of this critical American heritage to be part of the solution for semi-conductor re-birth in the US. Other countries are positioned to far exceed the US in moving to the next level. How does the US win in this race? Use all the best talent available.

Presenter: Valinda Scarbro Kennedy, IBM Global University Specialty Programs Manager. Valinda and her team work with higher education leadership worldwide in Medical Institutions and Historically Black College and Universities (HBCUs) providing access to industry resources to bridge the gap between academic programs and high demand career skills. The team works with medical/nursing/life sciences/pharmaceutical institutions and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU’s) to provide faculty and students industry experiences using IBM’s academic program for no-charge access to resources. The goal is to build critical skills with artificial intelligence, quantum computing, internet-of-things, data science, design thinking, cyber security, blockchain and other hot technology areas through engagement with academic, government and industry leaders to augment education to include the accelerated use of advanced technology into most disciplines.

InnovATEBIO webinar: To Reduce Variability/Increase Reproducibility: Beginning at the Beginning

Reducing variability/increasing reproducibility is essential in biotechnology, whether one’s job is producing a biopharmaceutical product, performing research, testing samples, or any other function. At Madison Area Technical College, course in basic laboratory skills is taught to individuals who already possess at least a BS degree in a biological science; many of the participants have advanced degrees and/or industry experience. In working with these students, exploration of how variability stealthily arises in the most basic – and often thought to be simple – procedures. In this webinar, student data that provides insights into how science professionals can recognize, understand, and control variability. As students focus on relatively simple – and essential -- tasks, they develop insights into the complexities of quality and metrology.
