This year's joint meeting combines the resources and interests of both the Canadian Society for Ecology and Evolution and the Ecological Society of America.

Meeting Theme: A Change is Gonna Come

This is an exciting time to be an ecologist: in an era of global environmental, cultural, and evolutionary change, the societal relevance of our contributions continues to grow. As species and processes operate in flux, ecologists are continually scrutinizing past and current conditions to help anticipate future responses. An additional necessary pathway of inquiry includes retrospection, where we identify how alternative histories could have created different present-day ecologies.

Change will incessantly persist at varying rates and intensities, and with varying consequences. But, the outstanding question lies in knowing what changes are required now to foster desired future outcomes. Such innovation amidst current conditions requires dismantling harmful legacies, expanding knowledge systems, and committing to restorative practices. Ecology is facing a disciplinary reckoning. Therefore, where we go and how we get there must be a collective enterprise built on principles that broaden participation, promote equity, and diversify metrics of impact.

Participants will see wine, table, and raisin grape production up close, at the height of the growing season. Participants will also have the rare opportunity to tour Gallo's Livingston Winery, the largest wine production facility in the world. INNOVATEBIO, the Algae Foundation, ACC, and ATEC are working in partnership to host an in-person Algae Workshop. Participants will get hands-on experience in multiple lab exercises from starting a culture to harvesting material and DNA isolation. Participants will obtain the information they need to incorporate algae into their existing biotechnology courses. The workshop is open to a total of 12 participants. Evaluation and research have a lot in common. But there are also important differences. Evaluation has a unique purpose, along with distinct approaches and methods. In this webinar, presenters will highlight what distinguishes evaluation from research and practical tools optimized for evaluations. Presenters will share case examples of methods – including evaluative rubrics and ripple effect mapping – in the ATE context.  Both evaluators and non-evaluators will benefit from this webinar by gaining a deeper understanding of evaluation and adding practical tools to their evaluation toolbox.

The Florida Forum on Engineering Technology (E.T. Forum) is an important vehicle to bring together the diverse and geographically dispersed colleges with common issues and challenges. The Forum is a semiannual meeting of community college engineering technologies faculty in Florida. FLATE utilizes the Forum to strengthen its Technology Consortium; share its activities and projects; provide professional development; bring industry and academics together; engage faculty and administrators in statewide curriculum reform; and keep in touch with new and ongoing college program issues and concerns.

This FREE event offered by the Center for Advanced Automotive Technology (CAAT) will be held at Macomb Community College's South Campus in Warren, MI and is targeted towards automotive industry representatives as well as secondary and postsecondary auto educators, counselors, and administrators.

In addition to the conference, this year CAAT will be offering a Professional Development Workshop on Electric Vehicles and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. This 2-day course will start immediately following the conference Friday afternoon, and finish on Saturday. This workshop is presented by Dr. Barry Gump. During the 2-day workshop, participants will learn about malolactic fermentation, soluble solids, hydrogen ion concentration, titratable acidity, reducing sugars by visual rapid estimation, ebulliometric analysis, distillation and titration procedure, and more. 

This summit will feature a two day event filled with keynote speakers and expert panel discussions. Speakers from government and military UAS operations will explain and update on progress with integration into NAS. Each keynote or presenter will address the industry's most pressing issues, explain new technology offerings or energize the crowd with new insight on the near-term future of UAS.
