Objective ONE: To create a robust transfer degree in Agricultural Science leading to a four-year
degree.

1.1: Discuss with CSU Cal Poly, UC Davis and other California universities with strong ag programs
the coursework needed for students to prepare for transfer with training specific to crop science.

1.2: Work with industry partners to revise the current ag curriculum and develop new curriculum that will broaden the options for students preparing for the diverse employment opportunities in
local agriculture.

1.3: Expand utilization of the student farm, fruit orchard and greenhouse to fully realize their valuable places as experiential learning tools.

1.4: Create a core curriculum to train students in the rapidly expanding fields of precision agriculture and crop protection

Objective TWO: To develop two certificate programs that further the education of current and
prospective agricultural technicians in the region in precision agriculture and crop protection.

2.1: Meet with BILT and additional agricultural employers to determine the knowledge, skills and abilities
(KSAs) and courses best suited to local ag worker employment.

2.2: Create certificate programs in Precision Agriculture and Crop Protection with the appropriate courses to meet the training needs to improve the skills of the ag labor workforce.

2.3: Promote the program among agriculture business leaders, farming employees, and high school students.

Objective THREE: To formalize agricultural education pathways from high school to higher education, including developing high school concurrent education opportunities and articulation agreements.

3.1: Work collaboratively with area high schools to develop pathways by establishing concurrent enrollment courses and articulation agreements.

3.2: Design and create outreach materials to be distributed to high school staff and students.

3.3: Invite area high school students to tour AHC agriculture learning facilities.

3.4: Promote the Ag Sci guided pathway by informing local news media sources and faculty/staff at AHC.

Objective FOUR: To establish agricultural science field work experiences for high school and college students in partnership with local industry.

4.1: Meet with collaborating ag businesses to create high school field experiences.

4.2: Meet with collaborating ag businesses and government agencies to create college internship programs.

4.3: Design 2-4 internship options available to students based on identified educational needs and available opportunities.

4.4: Institute regular communication and follow-up with participating internship sites to ensure the long-term success of the internship program.

Project Goal: To develop a continuum of advanced educational opportunities in precision agriculture that
provide updated agricultural education in the region, providing skilled labor for the industry and career
options for individuals in the workforce.
