This article, originally published in the Journal of Faculty Development, outlines techniques for involving engineering professors in faculty development programs and for making the programs effective. The article describes a faculty development program designed specifically for engineering faculty and implemented on an eight-campus coalition of engineering schools. In the five years of the programs existence, a large percentage of the faculty participated in faculty development activities and adopted proven but (in engineering) non-traditional teaching practices. Each of the participating campuses now has a sustainable engineering faculty development program of its own.
