Developing Water Quality Index Activity

This 1-page document, from the Advanced Technology Environmental and Energy Center (ATEEC), is a learning activity that provides students with the opportunity to analyze water quality in their local area. In the activity, students place glass slides in several water sites two weeks prior to investigation, collect samples, and analyze the water's quality. Concepts/skills learned (i.e. from K/S Tables) during the activity include: drawing conclusion, discovering rules, identifying microorganisms, and concept of indicator species.
