This webinar and corresponding presentation slides explore iPhone and iPod Touch programming and the implications for mobile learning. Whether learning environmental science, nursing, math, engineering, or even how to create their own apps, these and other handheld communication devices offer exciting new opportunities to ignite students' interest in learning and bring schools into the 21st Century. Gabriella Snyder, an undergraduate student in the Computer Science Department at Mount Holyoke College, provides her perspective in this webinar. Snyder has been actively involved in web design and computer programming for over ten years, building and maintaining her website, the Girl's Pokemon Battling Alliance (GPBA.net), designed as a community specifically for female fans of the Pokemon franchise. With her strong programming background, Snyder is now engaged in the development of applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Following an overview of the iPhone SDK, the following is discussed: integrating mobile communications devices into the classroom and in instruction, generating new interest in programming and software development, and potential institutional applications.

This webinar was recorded on August 14, 2009 and runs an hour and a half in length.
