Investigating the Microscopic World: Designing Authentic Experiments Using Microscopy

Screenshot

This activity, from Hagerstown Community College, teaches students about microscopy and experimental design in biology. Student use dissecting and/or compound microscopes to examine microscopic organisms, and then "pose a question, propose a hypothesis, design and conduct an experiment, collect and interpret data" to gain experience in the practice of the scientific method. The lesson includes a supply list and directions, as well as a link to a lab journal for student use (in PDF format).
