RCNET Radiation Protection Toolkit: Columbia Basin College is from the RCNET Comprehensive Teaching Toolkit: Radiation Protection which is drawn from curriculum taught in the Associate in Applied Science with a Major in Radiation Protection Technology program at Aiken Technical College, the Radiation Protection concentration at Chattanooga State Community College, the Nuclear Technology program at Columbia Basin College, the Radiation Protection Curriculum Project at the University of Missouri, and the program in Radiation Protection Technology at Texas State Technical College. This RCNET Toolkit is organized into five sections: Aiken Technical College, Chattanooga State Community College, Columbia Basin College, University of Missouri, and Texas State Technical College.  

Toolkit Course Contents
RCNET Radiation Protection Toolkit: Columbia Basin College includes materials from a Radiation Fundamentals course. The course provides an overview of radioactivity, radioactive decay, and sources of radiation, as well as plant safety, radioactivity containment, and radiological hazards.

Materials available as part of the Teaching Toolkit include a syllabus, fifteen handouts, five PowerPoint presentations, quizzes with answer keys, ten supplemental materials, and related course materials.

The 5-page syllabus includes a course description; learning, course, and program outcomes; a course outline; and related Columbia Basin College information.

Handouts include diagrams, tables, images, course project information, a mid-term study guide, and related course materials. 

Five PowerPoint presentations are included and each covers a different topic. Topics include radiological assessment, internal and external exposure control, operational health physics, a course overview, and radioactivity and radioactive decay. 

Three PDF quiz and answer key collections are included. The collections vary from 4-47 pages in length. 

Supplemental materials include fact sheets and reports and vary from 4-205 pages in length. These materials cover a variety of topics related to radiological health risks and nuclear power plant risks and accidents. 

For orientation purposes RPT 111 syllabus Rev 1.pdf is included as a separate attachment and offers a sample of the type of material included in this course.
