Photonics Fundamentals Information for Iowa High School Teachers
The Developing Photonics Education in Iowa's Rural Secondary Schools project created a hybrid and dual credit course to increase the number of photonics technicians in the U.S. This resource includes materials that were created to further outreach and recruitment efforts for the course. Project staff went to interested secondary schools as guest speakers and gave presentations on the course. Students and teachers attended these events.
These outreach materials include a 4-page supporting information document and six presentations. The supporting document discusses the outreach effort. The presentations cover the following topics: the nature and properties of light, optical components and handling, laser safety and light sources, geometric optics, physical optics, and the basic principles of lasers.
Course materials and other supporting work is available to view separately. Below is a list of folders contained within the .zip attachment. The size of each folder and number of files is included in parenthesis.
