The National Geospatial Technology Center, Jefferson Community and Technical College, and the Kentucky Information Technology Center (KITCenter) in Partnership with Kentucky Division of Geographic Information, Kentucky Geographic Alliance and the University of Kentucky Tracy Farmer Center, is proud to announce a regional one day conference to be held Wednesday, June 17, 2009 with pre-conference workshops scheduled for Monday, June 15 and Tuesday, June 16 on the Southwest campus of Jefferson Community and Technical College in Louisville, Kentucky.
This first conference of its kind will provide a regional and Kentucky perspective of geospatial education in the P-16 segment. Presentations by leaders and practitioners in the field will provide participants with an up-to-date view.

Plenary sessions and professional development tracks include the following topics:

-Educational initiatives in GIS, remote sensing and other geospatial fields
-What’s the outlook for P-16 geospatial careers in Kentucky and the region
-Learn about modular curricula use in the field of geospatial education
-Current status of certification and certificate programs
-The Body of Knowledge in Geospatial careers and how it can help your teaching
-Current software development and applications for geospatial education
