Demand for Geospatial Technology, spurred by dash top navigation systems, location enabled smart phone apps and ubiquitous web map services such as Google maps, is seemingly ever increasing. As a result educational institutions are interested in incorporating Geospatial Technology into their curriculums. One of the largest hurdles to geospatial curriculum implementation for K12 institutions is the purchase, deployment and maintenance of GIS software. To develop solutions to the technological hurdles Gainesville State College (GSC), as a member of the National GeoTech Center, has partnered with local K12 institutions to use virtual machines and existing internet connections to create solutions. This webinar will include an overview of the pilot project between GSC and local K12 institutions, technical aspects and implementation specifics of the project and a discussion of the educational outcomes and impact of the program on K12 students.
