This class will cover core competencies in the latest PC hardware and software technologies as well as safety and environmental issues and soft skills. There will be a special unit focusing on Cyber Security. The course will cover all topics required for CompTIA’s new A+ (2009) Certification and the new Cisco IT Essentials curriculum (version 4.1). This course’s focus is on the training needs of high school IT faculty although it will also be open to College IT faculty. Attendees will have opportunity to gain certification as Cisco Instructor for Cisco IT Essentials curriculum.
Instructor: Rebecca Marschner has been a full-time instructor at Gateway Technical College since August of 1994, teaching in the Customer Support Specialist and more recently the Network Specialist programs. She has taught courses not only in computer hardware and software troubleshooting, but also in Help Desk support, Security and the Cisco Network Academy Program. She has obtained her CCNA and CCAI from Cisco Systems.
