The international winter school for graduate students is an educational program of the National Nanotechnology Infrastructure Network, consisting of both a high level, focused nanotechnology course combined with a field experience. The technical course is held in conjunction with a leading academic institution in a developing country. Ten to twelve highly select US graduate students are selected for this experience each year.
Applications are solicited from students across the US , during August of each year. The course is held during December or January of each year.
Applications for the next instance of the course will be open in August 2011. Announcements will be widely distributed to leading science and engineering departments in the US, as well as to all NNIN users. It is not necessary to be an NNIN user to be selected.
The 4th iWSG will be held in Brazil on the campus of Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP) in Campinas, Brazil, near Sao Paulo , January 8-20, 2012. The second week will consist of a field experience in rural Brazil. The topic will be "Silicon and III-V Nano Photonics "
