This workshop will cover the basic knowledge and skills needed by technicians when working in a manufacturing environment as well as the career opportunities for technicians.  Topics include knowing your hazardous materials, how to locate and read a Material Data Safety Sheet, how to interpret NFPA diamonds (National Fire Protection Association), personal protective equipment – when and what is needed, laboratory and manufacturing facility safety rules, and cleanroom etiquette and garb.  These topics will be taught using a variety of activities that can be easily incorporated into a variety of curricula.  In addition, this workshop will cover the career pathways for manufacturing technician jobs and how to better prepare students for these careers.
