Creating microstructures such as proof masses in accelerometers, thin film membranes and chambers for pressure sensors, microfluidic channels in biosensors, atomic force microscope tips, and nozzles in ink-jet print heads requires leveraging the crystalline structure of silicon in the micro-manufacturing process. This workshop provides educators the knowledge and tools necessary for technicians to learn and demonstrate an understanding of crystallography applied to micro fabrication. Participants will partake in several hands-on activities and will be given access to online curriculum, animations, models, and kits.
