The purpose of New York's B-WET Program is to help establish watershed education in schools throughout the Susquehanna Region. The New York Geographic Alliance will be working with schools and teachers to help them with lessons, materials, and connections to environmental organizations. This workshop will concentrate on looking at local communities in depth, using topographic maps and aerial imagery. Participants at the Mapping and Geospatial Workshop will receive maps and imagery to take back to their schools. Much of the day will be devoted to online resources - using ArcGIS Online to create maps, and accessing high-quality imagery from Pictometry, Inc. The ultimate goal of this PD is to prepare teachers for outdoor experiences with their students. They need to use the mapping resources to decide on places in their part of the watershed that merit additional study.
