This hands on event will utilize both software driven data collection and hand sketching. The participant will learn how to collect data, build data sets, and share to other users. The methods will include using Field Papers, Collector and ArcGIS Online. Participants will need to have a smart device which has a true GPS to fully participate. Esri Collector app should be installed on the smart device prior to attending the Exploratorium. There are app version for both Apple and Android but not Windows. An understanding of maps is required, but no specific software knowledge is required, but very useful. Field Papers give the user the ability to modify maps without the need of a GPS through paper sketching and uploading onto Open Street Map. Collector utilize the power of a GIS System and the GPS to create layers of information that can be viewed on multiple devices.
