Protein is Cash (PiC) workshops are annual professional development workshops for high school teachers. PiC introduces the concepts of biotechnoloy and biomanufacturing and provides hands-on training for teachers to learn the necessary laboratory skills. Over the course of a week, teachers hear lectures from workshops leaders and guest speakers from indsutry about topics in biomanufacturing. The topics covered in the lectures are put into practice in a series of laboratory experiments. Teachers also have the opportunity to tour a local biomanufacturing facility and learn about strategies to incorporate the lectures and laboratory activities into the high school curriculum.
