With this discussion and tour, we are concerned with the underlying patterns of ordinary light. This is the light by which we do our work and enjoy the beauties of nature and art. We take it for granted, but Newton and Huygens inquire about it. What is its constitution? What laws does it obey? How are white light and colored light related? Why are there optical illusions? How do eyeglasses improve vision? Natalia Chekhovskaya, an Adjunct Professor of Physics at Indian River State College, will help us discover the answers to these questions as she leads us through a tour of the LASER-TEC Center at Indian River State College.
