This webinar is hosted by the Canadian Association of Professional Academic Librarians's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Community of Practice. In this presentation, Dr Daniella Levy-Pinto will talk about the experiences of being provided inaccessible journal articles, eBooks, and other scholarly materials. She will comment on the consequences badly produced reading material has for the blind community and the scholarly community more broadly. Daniella will then describe the work of the National Network for Equitable Library Service (NNELS). The work of NNELS to advance the born-accessible paradigm has been recognized by the Accessible Books Consortium, through the International Excellence Award on Accessible Publishing in the initiatives category. Daniella will highlight what librarians in all capacities can do to remove barriers to reading.
