Knowledge and Skill Guidelines for Marine Technicians Who Work Aboard Research Vessels

This document, created by the Marine Advanced Technology Education (MATE) Center draws from surveys conducted with Marine Technicians about which skills they felt were most important for their particular career. The document is divided up into task areas, and each respondent was asked to rate the importance of each. The results were then broken down by how specialized or general technicians felt, and the introduction details which task areas were most important to most fields. Visitors can find detailed information about each task area from pages 6 to 16. It is a very helpful document for administrators and educators creating or revamping ocean sciences curriculum to ensure that students have the most desirable and useful skills when they graduate.
