It's the Pits Activity

This 3-page learning activity, from the Advanced Technology Environmental and Energy Center (ATEEC), allows students to use lab analysis and problem solving to investigate issues surrounding water quality. Using prepared samples, each student tests for contaminants, removes the contaminant, and cleans up the site. During the activity, students should be able to:

• Demonstrate appropriate and safe laboratory procedures.
• Determine which impurities are present.
• Develop an adequate method for cleanup.
• Provide a lab report upon completion of the activity.
