This page is a course overview for Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) course 11.943, Special Studies in Urban Studies and Planning - The Cardener River Corridor Workshop.  It is designed to serve as an introductory course in urban design, providing a general survey of urban planning techniques and teachings. Topics covered include: landscape and environmental planning and development and preservation of natual and cultural landscapes.  Students' final presentations are provided, along with case studies of similar development projects, lecture notes, a course syllabus, and class calendar.  The production and distribution of this resource is part of MIT OpenCourseWare, an initiative of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to put all of the educational materials from its undergraduate and graduate-level courses online and make them freely accessible.
