The Fusion of Biology and Materials Science through Hands-On Activities and Demonstrations
This 11-page instructor guide from Edmonds Community College outlines a set of three activities introducing students to biomimetics. Through demonstrations and hands-on activities, students gain an understanding of scale, laboratory instruments, logical reasoning, and imaging materials as they relate to biomimetics. The three activities each take between 15 minutes to one class period, and can be adjusted for different grade levels. This resource includes the following sections: Abstract, I. Measuring and Scaling, II. Images of Surfaces and Structures, III. Biomimetics, and References.
