Retaining Women in First Year Computer Science Courses
This poster, provided by National Institute for Women in Trades, Technology and Science, describes the efforts at Norfolk State University to retain female computer science majors. The university added a course titled Introduction to the Computer Science Profession that discussed topics such as role models, active coping, mentors, pair programming, and collaborative learning. Furthermore, new programming laboratory courses were added that required pair programming.
