This 55-page report by Louise Yarnall covers a system developed and tested by SRI International to provide increased access to instructional materials created through the National Science Foundation's Advanced Technological Education (ATE) program. This system is intended to aid in "summarizing the key components of technician education instructional materials, their logistical requirements, and their learning objectives." The project's goal was to "provide community college classroom practitioners and online materials librarians with an easy-to-use and valid checklist for tagging instructional materials so other educators can find them better using search engines and digital libraries."

This report includes a table of contents and the following sections: Executive Summary, The Suitability Inventory Design, Validity Study 1: Comparing the Suitability Inventory to TECA, Validity Study 2: The Expert Panel, Conclusions, References, Appendix A. Influences on Instructor's Decision Making on Curriculum, Appendix B. Suitability Checklist, Appendix C. List of Reviewed Materials, Appendix C. List of Reviewed Materials, Appendix D. Modified TECA, Appendix E. TECA Decision Rules, Appendix F. Comparison of TECA and Suitability Inventory Scoring Time and Length of Selected Instructional Materials, and Appendix G. Conceptual Correspondences Between the Suitability Inventory and TECA.
