Strengthening The Engineering Pipeline One Field And One Woman At A Time: The Role Of Single Discipline, Single Sex Engineering Camps In The U.S.
This study, from the American Society for Engineering Education, looked at the effect of a six-day residential camp focused on introducing girls to chemical engineering. Results of the first year of the camp found that it increased awareness of and interest in chemical engineering amongst the girls who participated in the camp and their parents. The paper would be of interest to anyone considering the value of single-discipline engineering pipelines to a higher-education institution.
