This lecture, created by Alaa Khamis of German University in Cairo, serves as an introductory lesson on robotics. Beginning with an outline, the entire presentation is structured in sections, including: What is a Robot?, What is Robotics?, Science Fiction, Science Facts, Robots Today, Robot Statistics, Robots' Future, Resources, and Summary.

The 77-page presentation focuses on three main points: (1) "A robot is a machine that imitates the actions and sometimes the appearance of an intelligent creature, usually a human; (2) New Research and increasing applications have been the impetus behind the evolution of industrial robots into service robots; and (3) Personal robots derive from service robots as the latest step of this evolution by introducing the notion of personal use of the robot." The entire lesson is a comprehensive look at what robotics is, and how robotics can be (and is) applied in daily life.
