This book, written by Jacques Chaurette, describes how pressure can be determined anywhere within a pump system. As explained by Chaurette: "The inlet and outlet of a pump are two locations where pressure is of special interest. The difference in pressure head between these two points is known as the Total Head. A system equation will be developed based on fundamental principles from which the Total Head of the pump can be calculated, as well as the pressure head anywhere within the system. These principles can be applied to very complex systems."

Broken into five chapters (and five appendices), the book provides an introduction to pump systems; various applications of thermodynamics to pump systems; the components of total head; pump selection, sizing, and interpretation of performance curves, and field measurements. Also included within the book is a full-length glossary, and a bibliography, which readers can use for further learning and research.

The entire book can be downloaded for free as a PDF document.
