Are Sunspots Really on the Sun?
This activity is provided by the Stanford Solar Center and gives students the opportunity to study sunspots. Students will measure sunspot speeds and shapes across the solar disk to determine whether the spots are on the Sun or are planets revolving around it (Galileo's dilemma). This activity includes information on the duration of the activity, student prerequisites, preparation and supplies needed, objectives, the activity procedure, and data analysis.
