This paper, published by the American Society for Engineering Education, discusses the CalWomenTech Project results on recruiting and retaining women in two targeted technology programs. The City College of San Francisco's (CCSF) Computer Networking Information Technology (CNIT) and San Diego Mesa College's Geographic Information Systems Program gained a 12% and 15% increase respectively in female enrollment in less than one year after implementing the project's recruitment strategies. Retention strategies implemented by CalWomenTech colleges also led to significant increases in male enrollment. The paper also features an overview of the CalWomenTech recruitment and retentions strategies themselves as well as results from surveys given to 60 female students enrolled in technology courses in which they are underrepresented.
