Exxon Valdez Oil Spill: Google Earth Virtual Field Trip Activity

This activity, provided by the Advanced Technology Environmental and Energy Center (ATEEC), takes students on a virtual field trip that explores issues around the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill, such as the path of the oil tanker, impacts of the oil spill, and more. The 12-page document includes a short teacher's guide followed by a worksheet that contains instructions and problems for students to fill out as they complete the activity. The teacher's guide features an explanation of the activity, the activity's goals, and additional questions to explore. The virtual field trip uses way points on Google Earth that narrate the Exxon oil tanker's path.

Also included is a .kmz file, which contains the virtual tour. The .kmz file can be imported into Google Earth by clicking "File" on the top left, followed by "Import KML / KMZ file."
