Mini-Fermenter

Adapted from the plan and construction methods created by the Madison Area Technical College, the mini-fermenter can be used for both small-scale laboratory fermentation demonstrations and experiments. "This mini-fermenter can be used to demonstrate small-scale fermentation activities similar to research done by scientists at GLBRC.” A sample procedure can be found in the “Mini-Fermenter Instruction Sheet" below. The audience for this exercise includes high school through undergraduate students (grades 9 through 16), with the total cost for materials around 50 dollars. This page also includes a list of the required supplies needed, with an estimated two hours needed for construction of the mini-fermenter.
