The Marine Advanced Technology Education Center introduces the concept of actuators as they are utilized on a remotely operated vehicle, or ROV, using the Angelfish ROV project. Students will learn the basics of the Angelfish ROV using videos which demonstrate the step-by-step building process and wire up their switchbox controller. This project is designed to take 20 hours. "Wiring the control box will include basic concepts of electricity and circuitry, including a lesson on how a double-pull, double-throw switch operates. Lessons on soldering skills, various sources of power, electrical troubleshooting and electrical safety are also included." A free membership is require to view the videos and kit associated with this project.
