LOG 115: Logistics Security and Risk Management

Tacoma Community College offers a Logistics course program, funded in part by the National Science Foundation, to provide students with the professional skills necessary to succeed in warehouse, inventory, and supply chain management.

In Logistics 115, Logistics Security and Risk Management, students will “become familiar with applicable domestic and international standards, laws, and regulations as well as the technologies that are used in ensuring that the supply chain is safe.” Security threats, risks, and countermeasures are covered in an effort to identify and assess vulnerabilities. “Key areas of study will be transportation and port security, access control, the regulatory framework, IT security as it pertains to supply chain management, as well as aspects of import and export compliance. All modes of transportation will be covered, as will security aspects of both domestic and international commerce.“

Course Information:

Logistics 115 Logistics Security and Risk Management is offered at Tacoma Community College as a blended learning course, containing both online and in-person components.

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to identify and implement logistics strategies, explain and evaluate logistics decisions, display effective interpersonal communications and work as part of a team, communicate effectively about business management or logistics issues, consistently apply high standards of ethical judgment for personal and business affairs.

For orientation purposes, viewers of this courses’ content should begin with the document called Logistics Security and Risk Management- Logistics 115 which contains a letter to the instructor, a list of the weekly modules and their content, midterm exam, final exam, and short answer questions. A list of web and print resources, called Resources was compiled for all the Logistics courses and is included in the Administrative section for reference.
