Hybrid Electic Vehicle (HEV) Safety Considerations

This module consists of a presentation and lab on the topic of Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) safety, and were developed to enhance automotive courses with HEV technologies through a seed grant from the Center for Advanced Automotive Technology (CAAT). In the presentation, some safety considerations discussed are wire sheathing color, safety gloves, insulated tools, multimeters, high voltage disabling procedures, and HEV smart keys. The lab will familiarize technicians with the safety precautions associated with working on HEVs such as dealing with high voltage and isolating these potentially dangerous circuits.
