This lecture, presented by John Chamberlain, covers the basics of unit conversion in phonetics education. In 26 minutes, Chamberlain covers topics such as the basics of units (of measure) and unit ratios. Once the basics have been covered, Chamberlain explains concepts further, introducing students to topics such as multiplying measurements, prefixes, and equations. All examples introduced by Chamberlain help students complete one of six exercises at the end of the lecture, in which students can practice multiplying and dividing quantities, changing power-of-ten notations to a prefix, verifying equations, and converting measurements (from centimeters to millimeters, from feet to miles, and on). Upon watching the lecture, students should be able to multiply and divide numbers that contain units, express numerical values, and convert units.
