Mathematics for Photonics Education: Ratio and Proportion
This lecture, presented by John Chamberlain, covers the basics of ratio and proportion as the concepts relate to photonics education. In 27 minutes, Chamberlain presents the basics of ratios, percentages, and proportions (which, as he explains, are just equal ratios). Once the basics are covered, Chamberlain provides numerous examples of these concepts in action, including ratios as they relate to age, time, and space. Included with the lecture are five exercises that students can complete with guidance. Upon completion of the lecture, students should be able to understand the concepts of ratio, proportion, and percents, as well as solve problems that involve ratio, proportion, and percents.
