This MEMS 101: Introduction to Microsystems (MEMS) webinar was presented by the Southwest Center for Microsystems Education (SCME) on October 21, 2011, and is offered as an Elluminate Live! recorded Session. Presenters include Barb Lopez, Research Engineer at the University of New Mexico and Instructional Designer for SCME and Mary Jane (MJ) Willis, Instructional Designer for SCME. Topics covered in the webinar include an introduction to the Southwest Center for Microsystems Education (SCME) and its programs, the difference between microsystems and MEMS, an introduction to microsystems, microsystem applications, examples of MEMS, the evolution of microsystems, and the future of microsystems. The webinar is accompanied by corresponding presentation slides and a 1-page webinar handout. In addition to the previously-mentioned topics, the webinar and handout also cover the following: an introduction to Microsystems (MEMS) - what they are, where they come from, how they affect our lives; Terminology and scale; MEMS devices and applications that affect you; and a brief history of Microsystems Technology. A list of links and references from the webinar are included on the handout.
