Program Description:

This program, created by professionals at Milwaukee Area Technical College, prepares students to efficiently and effectively manage facilities. Emphasis is placed on cost-effective energy options, direct digital controls, energy management systems, sustainable operations management, maintenance management, commissioning, and project management. Each link leads to an instructor guide which includes sample learning outcomes, exit skills, course materials, assessments, and an overall description for each course.

Instructor Guide Description:

This Instructor Guide helps educators at the college-level design and plan an accelerated course that "covers the overall aspects of operating a building in an ecologically and economically sustainable fashion in today's complex world." The guide contains possible tests, homework assignments, and activities that encourage class participation, which help students gain an understanding of "sustainability concepts, business and budgeting, and sustainable management systems." Used in conjunction with other classroom resources, the Instructor Guide can assist educators in developing a course that teaches students to "define sustainability, describe triple bottom line (people / profit / planet), and research and promote sustainable projects."
