Program Description:

This program, created by professionals at Milwaukee Area Technical College, prepares students to efficiently and effectively manage facilities. Emphasis is placed on cost-effective energy options, direct digital controls, energy management systems, sustainable operations management, maintenance management, commissioning, and project management. Each link leads to an instructor guide which includes sample learning outcomes, exit skills, course materials, assessments, and an overall description for each course.

Instructor Guide Description:

This Instructor Guide helps educators at the college-level design and plan an eight-week, accelerated course which "prepares the student to upgrade, operate, and maintain energy management systems and related software and components." The guide contains possible tests, homework assignments, and activities to encourage class participation, which help students gain "a comprehensive understanding of computerized automation systems within commercial buildings," as well as a "comprehensive understanding of mechanical HVAC systems." Also included in the Instructor Guide are twelve suggested classroom presentations, including topics such as Building Automation, Lightning System Control Devices, Plumbing System Control Devices, and more. The Instructor Guide can assist educators in developing a course that teaches students to "utilize building automation systems to manage facilities, develop open building automation system architecture, and develop the ability to document sequences of operations for mechanical equipment in commercial buildings."
