Program Description:

This program, created by professionals at Milwaukee Area Technical College, prepares students to efficiently and effectively manage facilities. Emphasis is placed on cost-effective energy options, direct digital controls, energy management systems, sustainable operations management, maintenance management, commissioning, and project management. Each link leads to an instructor guide which includes sample learning outcomes, exit skills, course materials, assessments, and an overall description for each course.

Instructor Guide Description:

This Instructor Guide helps educators at the college-level design and plan an accelerated course that "takes students through the Commissioning (Cx) Process." The Guide contains possible tests, homework assignments, and activities to encourage class participation, all focused on helping students gain an understanding of the "four phases, the four types, and the benefits," of Cx, as well as "LEED rating system." The Guide also contains a sample presentation on Cx for sustainability and energy efficiency. Used as a starter, the Instructor Guide can assist educators in developing a course that teaches students to "apply / perform Cx on a building system," as well as "explain owner project requirements, basis of design, system manuals, and simple functional performance tests."
