Network Security
Program Description:
River Valley Community College, in association with Program Development in Cybersecurity with Focus on Business and Healthcare Concepts, has developed a 4-semester program to prepare students to working the Information Assurance (IA) field with a focus on Cybersecurity and Healthcare IT. Courses are intended to prepare students for assuring confidentiality, integrity and availability of IT systems and networks in healthcare settings, where scheduling, storage of images, filling prescriptions, billing and more are handled and stored using information technology.
Course Description:
This Course from River Valley Community College center focuses on network security and asks students to consider network communications from a security standpoint. It also offers a comprehensive guide for anyone wishing to take the CompTIA Security+ SY0-301 Certification Exam. Upon completion of the course, student will have an understanding of 1) Network defense fundamentals, 2) Advanced Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and Internet Protocol (IP), 3) Routers and access control lists, 4) Designing firewalls, 5) Configuring firewalls, 6) Implementing IPSec and VPNs, 7) Designing an Intrusion Detection System (IDS), 8) Configuring an IDS, 9) Securing wireless networks, 10) Analyzing packet signatures, and 11) Transmission and TEMPEST security.
