This Self-Assembly Lab is provided by Nanotechnology Applications and Career Knowledge Support Center (NACK Center) which is based at the Pennsylvania State College of Engineering. The objective of this lab is "to explore the formation of self-assembled monolayers on various surfaces and to assess the success of monolayer formation on these surfaces by measuring water droplet contact angles." The 6 page lab document gives background information, an experiment activity in five steps, with linked videos, and synthesis questions. The Lab is part of the larger course Engineering Science 213 - Materials in Nanotechnology, but may be adapted for any micro or nanotechnology course. This and all other resources from the NACK Center require a free log-in.
