Program Description:
Created through a collaboration with the OPEN Platform+ program, the National STEM Consortium (NSC) academic certificate in Electric Vehicle Technology is built on a 30-semester-credit model and includes two tracks: (1) Electric Vehicle Development, and (2) Electric Vehicle Service. Graduates are prepared for product development positions in the automotive, communications, solar, wind turbine, and smart grid industries and service positions in the automotive industry. The National STEM Consortium (NSC) is a collaborative of ten colleges in nine states, funded by a U.S. Department of Labor grant to develop one-year, 30-credit certificate programs in five Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields: Composites Technology, Cyber Technology, Electric Vehicle Technology, Environmental Technology, and Mechatronics Technology.
Macomb Community College was the lead college for the Electric Vehicle Technology pathway developing along with Ivy Tech Community College two tracks: Electric Vehicle Development Technology and Electric Vehicle Service Technology.

Program Contents:
While the program curriculum is available online through the Open Learning Initiative (OLI) system, the Center for Advanced Automotive Technology (CAAT) has provided support material to be used in conjunction with the course materials. These include a presentation on how to access NSC Content in OLI, a promotional PDF outlining student success stories from the National STEM Consortium, and a comprehensive program guide for the Electric Vehicle Technology Certificate program. The Guide and supporting material are intended to provide information to help colleges decide whether to adopt the NSC Electric Vehicle Technology program, as well as suggestions on how colleges may adapt the program to suit their local needs.

The 46-page course guide offers 6 sections, and references the support materials also included. These are: 1)The Electric Vehicle Technology Industry, 2) The NSC Electric Vehicle Technology Certificate, 3) Program Infrastructure, 4) The Role of the Local Business Community, 5) Student Success Strategies, and 6) Enhancing Program Sustainability.

A spreadsheet is provided which maps the Electric Vehicle Technology Program learning outcomes to courses offered.

Five additional folders of support materials for program implementation are also provided. These include example advising documents, example delivery models, example job placement materials, example recruitment materials, and example vehicle fleet photographs.

For orientation purposes, viewers should begin with NSC_ElectricVehicles_ProgramGuide.pdf, which offers an example of the types of materials located in the zip file.

Below is a list of the files contained within the .zip attachment. The size of each file is included in parenthesis.
