Best Practices for Teaching (ClassACT): Itinerant Teaching
This resource, provided by DeafTEC, is an overview of the work performed by itinerant teachers of deaf or hard-of-hearing students. The term "itinerant" refers to the work model for these educators, wherein they travel among schools to work with deaf or hard-of-hearing students individually to support their education within mainstream classroom settings. The overview is divided into five broad categories: Inservice, Direct Service, Indirect Services, Professional Development, and Reports, Forms, and Other paperwork. Each of these categories is briefly described; video clips, taken from a panel discussion with itinerant teachers and a June 27, 2012 presentation at the DeafTec conference at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, provide examples.
