Toolkit Description:
This Power Plant Construction and Quality Assurance/Quality Control course is from the RCNET Comprehensive Teaching Toolkit: Quality Assurance and Quality Control, and is drawn from courses taught at Chattanooga State Community College (CSCC). These courses are available as part of the Engineering and Information Technologies division at CSCC, and are part of concentrations in Non-Destructive Testing Technology, Nuclear Power Engineering Technology, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control Technology. Other courses in the toolkit include NE 110 Introduction to Non-Destructive Testing and Quality and NE 127 Codes, Standards, and Regulations.

Toolkit Course Contents:
QA 212 Power Plant Construction and Quality Assurance/Quality Control covers the activities related to the construction of power plants, erection of buildings and major equipment pedestals, flashing, transfer of systems from construction to operations, startup testing and ascension testing, as well as all applicable codes and standards.

Materials available as part of the Teaching Toolkit include a syllabus, 53 PowerPoint lectures, and one test. 

The 4-page syllabus includes a course description, textbook and materials needed, competencies, topics covered, instructional activities, student outcomes, assessment, and college policies.

53 PowerPoint lectures are included and each covers a different topic. PowerPoints cover topics related to alternative energy, pressure vessels, designing for safety, energy resources, hydroelectric power stations, instrumentation and control, nuclear plant systems, ASME codes, plant electrical systems, steam power plants, and turbines.

For orientation purposes Power Plant Construction.pdf is included as a separate attachment and offers a sample of the type off material included in this course.
